Animating Spatiotemporal Constraint Databases
نویسندگان
چکیده
Constraint databases provide a very expressive framework for spatiotemporal database applications. However, animating such databases is diicult because of the cost of constructing a graphical representation of a single snapshot of a constraint database. We present a novel approach that makes the eecient animation of constraint databases possible. The approach is based on a new construct: parametric polygon. We present an algorithm to construct the set of parametric polygons that represent a given linear constraint database. We also show how to animate objects deened by parametric polygons, analyze the computational complexity of animation, and present empirical data to demonstrate the eeciency of our approach.

Constraint-Based Interoperability of Spatiotemporal Databases
We propose constraint databases as an intermediate level facilitating the interoper-ability of spatiotemporal data models. Constraint query languages are used to express translations between diierent data models. We illustrate our approach in the context of a number of temporal, spatial, and spatiotemporal data models.

متن کاملVariable Independence in Constraint Databases
In this paper, we study constraint databases with variable independence conditions (vics). Such databases occur naturally in the context of temporal and spatiotemporal database applications. Using computational geometry techniques, we show that variable independence is decidable for linear constraint databases. We also present a set of rules for inferring vics in relational algebra expressions....
متن کاملThe Relationship among GIS-Oriented Spatiotemporal Databases
We overview three major types of GIS-oriented spatiotemporal databases: (1) point-based, (2) region-based, and (3) constraint-based. We analyze the relationship among these spatiotemporal databases and show how they can be translated into each other. We illustrate the translations with an example from National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS) databases. Finally, we also discuss the advant...
متن کاملConstraint Databases and Geographic Information Systems
Constraint databases and geographic information systems share many applications. However, constraint databases can go beyond geographic information systems in efficient spatial and spatiotemporal data handling methods and in advanced applications. This survey mainly describes ways that constraint databases go beyond geographic information systems. However, the survey points out that in some are...
